The story was definitely "slanted" in a racist way. But, the second did have more action and damage attributed to it. The boy totaled a car and mailboxes (a federal offense that would put an adult in jail).
It is difficult to gauge the two stories because they are different. It is a great contrast, though.
My favorite part is a 'cotton candy all-American kid'
